Nicole Scherzinger Reveals Britney No Show on Tour

Take40.com – The Pussycat Dolls might have done a massive tour of the United States with Britney Spears, but it seems even they are not immune to the protective detail surrounding the pop star, according to lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.

When probed on what Britney was like on tour, Nicole revealed that the band did not see Britney once through-out their nearly 2 month stint as support act on the North American leg of ‘The Circus Starring: Britney Spears’ tour.

“No, nuh-uh,” Scherzinger responded sadly.

Not a single time?

“No.”

Her reasoning comes down to the busy lives of both pop sensations.

“We have busy schedules and she does too and we go on stage at different times in different cities at different times so it’s understandable.”

Obviously Britney’s team are still very protective of the fragile star, who had a very public break-down in 2007. Britney Spears takes The Circus: Starring Britney Spears to Australia this November for her first ever tour Down Under.

New Kimberly Blog: Beautiful Movements

The Fight For Beauty

We have all at one point or another looked in the mirror and not liked the reflection staring back at us. There have been many moments I’ve obsessed over belly bulge and boob size. I’ve battled acne prone skin and fought the fight to be the image on every magazine cover. In some ways I can say I’ve been to hell and back when it comes to body image and the mental dialogue that goes along with it. Since you asked for it…J here is my story.

I came from a family of men who obsessed over Pamela Anderson. She had the skinny, tight body, big, fake boobs and bleach blonde hair that was to die for. I would soak in the bathtub after dancing all day and pray to one day be blessed with the same genetic makeup. I was already fantasizing about looking like someone other then me. The image of the entertainment industry had already affected me.

At school I was constantly being made fun of for my big, sloped nose and flat chest. I’d wear big bras with push up pads to give myself confidence. My plan backfired and I was the girl that stuffed her bra as well as the girl with the flat chest. In my mind I was going to get a boob job and nose job as soon as I could afford it.

Stepping foot into the working world of dance brought on more challenges. When I worked on Cruise Ships I’d dwell in homesickness by eating big bags of starburst at night, dove into desserts, and ate huge helpings. I gained enough weight that costumes were bursting at the seams and zippers wouldn’t even zip during shows. I was contractually obligated to remain the same weight I was when I was hired at 118 pounds. At this point in my life I stared down at the scales through blurry, tear filled eyes at a scale that read 139.

Cruise ships taught me that working out and watching what I eat would be a part of my life forever since I chose my line of work. After moving to Los Angeles and feeling lonely, scared and sorry for myself, I found comfort in gallons of ice cream, boxes of powdered sugar doughnuts, and packages of candy. I’d often eat an entire box or gallon in one sitting. Then the guilt of what I just ate would set in.

At one of my lowest points in body image I tried to make myself throw up. I stuck my fingers down my throat, gagged a few times and was left with blood filled eyeballs due to bursting blood vessels in my eyes from straining. Embarrassment set in every time someone asked what happened. The truth would burn my soul as I’d lie and say, “I sneezed really hard and it broke blood vessels in my eyes”. My conclusion to myself was that God was warning me to find another way.

The next big milestone in self-acceptance was acne. The smog in Los Angeles and the stresses over paying bills and booking jobs made for a deadly combination. I had developed a severe case of cystic acne. Cysts are extremely painful and they were all over my cheeks, chin, and forehead. Even a makeup brush touching my face hurt so badly I’d want to cry. Every night I would twist a blanket into a doughnut and place my face over the hole in the middle so my acne filled cheeks wouldn’t touch any surfaces. This would alleviate the pain so that I could sleep soundly. It was when my acne became a problem for the Pussycat Dolls brand that I sought after major treatments.

It was brought to my attention that if I didn’t take care of my problem I would be edited out of videos. I tried every method there was available to treat my skin. Pro Active was my godsend for 3 months until my skin became immune to it. I tried Natures Call, chemical peels, and every ointment available over the counter and Doctor prescribed. I visited Sonya Dakaar due to her reputation for giving celebrities beautiful complexions and I loved her products. She required ten thousand dollars to start and bi-weekly appointments to guarantee clear skin. I couldn’t afford that nor did I have the time. Finally I took high doses of accutane as a last resort. Giving blood once a month was a requirement for the drug. The doctors had to monitor my organs to make sure they didn’t fail due to the poison I was feeding my body. I spent thousands of dollars I didn’t have every month to fix my problem and nothing seemed to work. Weekly facials including painful extractions, micro-dermabrasions and bacteria killing tools is how I maintained somewhat clear looking skin. Still to this day I visit a dermatologist regularly, get extractions and facials, fraxel laser treatments to treat my scars, take birth control pills to manage my hormones and estrogen and still deal with somewhat problematic skin. But after all I have endured, I’m thankful for a few pimples and breakouts here and there.

Being healthy is a lifestyle change that’s not about what other people think but about how you feel on the inside. When I feel good about myself I’m less likely to pig out on Snickers, Twix, and ice cream. I made a pact with myself years ago to stop looking for, “the easy way out,” and dedicated myself to the discipline of making good food choices and working out regularly. Understanding more about nutrition gives me the knowledge to make better choices. High fructose corn syrup and processed foods is a huge NO when it comes to diet, they are sure to pack on the pounds. Instead of sugar filled candies I choose my favorite fruits instead. When eating out I make a point to always say no to fried foods and opt for a healthier choice like steamed vegetables or a side salad. If neither option is available then I just don’t get a side item. Water is important to flush your system and get rid of all toxins. I hate water but I know the importance and guzzle it down. I also know that when you feel hungry it is often because you are dehydrated. Try drinking water before you go for a snack. I have always been an over eater. I don’t know when to say enough is enough when I’m eating really good food. So now I listen to my body when I am eating. When I feel full I put my napkin over the rest of my food to ensure I don’t overeat.

I am blessed that my job involves a lot of cardio. When I have time off in LA I’m either running a few miles a day, hiking Runyan Canyon or working out with my trainer. I enjoy being outdoors and beautiful views. It’s all about finding what routine works best for you. So take the things you love in life like music, outdoors, friends, running, circuit training, kick-boxing, dancing, sports, rollerblading and choose your workout wisely. I often switch it up so I don’t get bored.

I live to be happy and healthy and I believe that exercise is not only good for your physique but is phenomenal in maintaining a stress free life. Through soul searching and self-discovery I learned to love myself. I see myself as different and unique. I no longer feel the need to look like Pamela Anderson because I accept my reflection in the mirror and I have learned to love my differences, my small boobs, my sloped nose, and my athletic body. I don’t think anyone is “perfect”. Although people can paint a pretty picture on magazine covers at some point their flaws will surface. The only way to be comfortable in your skin is to live in your own skin. Comparisons are the root of envy.

“Be your own beautiful self.”

Pussycat Dolls end tour in style at Blaisdell Arena

(Posted: Saturday June 13th 2009)

The Pussycat Dolls ended their six-month,"Doll Domination" world tour with a bit of a lovefest and a coming home party for lead singer Nicole Scherzinger Saturday night at Blaisdell Arena.

In January, five Dolls — lead singer and O'ahu native Scherzinger, secondary lead singer Melody Thornton and dancers/backup vocalists Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt and Jessica Sutta — started the 87-show tour that circled the globe.

But but by the time the Dolls touched down on O'ahu Friday morning, their troupe had been reduced to four. Sutta missed the Asia part of the tour after breaking ribs while performing during an earlier show.

Earlier Saturday, Scherzinger was visibly emotional at a news conference at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel when she talked about the tour finally coming to an end, and getting a chance to perform in front of her ohana. On two occasions during the conference, Thorton reached over and tapped her in support as Scherzinger appeared to nearly break down.

"This means so much," she said.

At the show, Scherzinger elaborated.

"We've been on tour six months nonstop playing everywhere from the pyramids in Egypt to the Alps in Austria. Finally, I can say what I've wanted to say for so long. The Doll Dominaton Tour is here in Hawaii! It's a dream come true to play in front of my family."

Scherzinger said she plans to stay with family for a while before returning to the studio. No plans of the next Pussycat Dolls concert were given. All four Dolls, however, seemed a bit relieved to get a tour break.

Part of the reason may be because much of the talk leading into the final stops of "Doll Domination" had centered around alleged infighting over Scherzinger's top billing and the possibility she'll leave the group to focus on her solo career.

None of that surfaced Saturday night.

Instead, Scherzinger asked the crowd early to give a warm welcome to the "beautiful girls up here with me," and talked about how much they meant to her. Later in the show, after Scherzinger performed one song individually, the rest of The Pussycat Dolls returned to the stage with leis in hands, draping them over Scherzinger and telling her "we love you so much."

The show itself lived up to it's billing: Some burlesque dancing mixed with high-energy songs and women dressed in tight-fitting corsets and clothes. Choreographer Robin Antin, who started the Pussycat Dolls as a burlesque group in 1995 and has overseen its transition into more of a singing act with dancing, was in the audience for the tour's final show.

The Dolls used three giant video screens, not only to give the fans high up in the back of the arena a better view, but also to bring in other artists such as will I.Am. and AR. Rahmen for duets with Scherzinger. Rahmen appeared on the big screens in the "Jai Ho (You are my Destiny)" video while Scherzinger sang her part live on stage.

They played all of their hits, and throughout the concert Scherzinger saluted her large family in the audience, at one point yelling "Howzit! I'm Nicole. So proud to be part Hawaiian. So proud to be part Filipina."

Her final comments, and the final song, was a message to kids to believe in themselves no matter where they are and dream big.

"'When I Grow Up' in Honokai Hale anything can happen!" she shouted.

Kimberly Blog: DanceSpirit

Learning on Tour

Traveling around the world and dancing in different countries teaches you a lot about culture. I’ve traveled to most every continent and had the pleasure of sharing my passion and art with many. I’ve performed for fans that barely speak English and sometimes for fans that don’t understand it at all quite often. But the joy and excitement you feel, no matter what the venue is, never changes. I’ve left many performances in foreign countries with a new outlook and understanding for lives so different from my own.

I have a fond memory of dancing in Malaysia a few years ago. Malaysia is a country whose people typically adhere to the Muslim religion. Women are often seen dressed in long black robes revealing nothing but their eyes. Our first hint of their conservative nature should have been at the airport when we were asked to cover our toes, shoulders, and knees. But since being on tour for quite sometime we were prepared to do our normal show dressed in our typical Pussycat Doll costumes.

To ensure the concert wasn’t cancelled due to rain in such a tropical climate the promoter of the show hired a tribe of people to do a rain dance. Allegedly the tribe would perform their dance the afternoon of the show and that night the performance would be rain free. It has been said that on many occasions the entire island would get strong rain on show nights but the concert area would remain dry. The tribe is so confident that their ritual works that they promise the concert promoter their money back if it rains.

The night of our show in Malaysia we stepped on stage with excitement and gratitude for such a beautiful stage, stunning night, and awesome crowd. The night sky was filled with a big, bright full moon and stars that filled the sky. The next morning we woke up to a newspaper headline stating, to our surprise, we had been banned from the country of Malaysia. Our tour costumes showed shoulders as well as the belly button, which was forbidden. My jaw dropped in disbelief and confusion. But I left with a new understanding of the importance of becoming familiar with foreign culture. Take the initiative to know what to expect when traveling and performing in other countries.

Years later we were invited back to Malaysia for the MTV Asia Awards. A stipulation in place to approve that our cleavage and tummy were covered as well as wearing pants. The show was a success once again and was broadcast on televisions all across Asia. Thankfully we found our way back to acceptance from people of Muslim faith.

I find myself in Asia at this present time and still face the scrutiny of our costumes in many regions. Press conferences held in Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines address the issue. Our truth is that the show must go on and although costumes are a big part of what makes a show so fun to watch, in order to reach all of our fans we are willing to make changes. Having more knowledge on culture and religions in countries we had never set foot before would have saved us from the scrutiny we face today.

Nicole Scherzinger loves Lady Gaga's "hot" G-strings

Nicole Scherzinger loves Lady Gaga's "hot" G-strings.
The Pussycat Dolls star is in awe of the outrageous fashion choices made by
the 'Poker Face' singer, particularly her skimpy underwear.
Nicole said: "I ran into her at the airport and she had some fishnets and a
G-string on and a blazer. That was really kind of hot!
"I'm a huge fan of her style and all the fun-tastic clothes she has."
The 30-year-old singer - who is dating British Formula One racing driver
Lewis Hamilton - is also impressed Lady Gaga's "natural" ability to source
out interesting and imaginative outfits.
She added to website thehothits.com: "I have never seen Miss Gaga wearing
tracksuit pants. She's always so inventive in coming up with something new
to express herself. It just comes natural to her. I love everything."
Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - supported the
girl group on their 'Doll Domination' world tour, which ended at the
Burswood Entertainment Centre in Perth, Australia, on Saturday night.
The blonde pop star recently insisted she didn't try and upstage the
Pussycat Dolls with her eccentric and sexy stage show.
She said: "I don't feel that way about the Pussycat Dolls. I love them very
much and I'm very grateful to them for having me support them. They've taken
me all over the world."
