Holidays
The holidays are near which means another chance at forgiveness, love, and compassion for myself and for the world around me. It’s a time of year that brings back memories and gives you the opportunity to make new ones. As a year ends and a new year begins we are able to set goals and focus on how we can work everyday at achieving them. Everything is possible when you take the time to think of what it is you want in life and have enough faith to go after it.
This holiday for me is all about opening my heart with love and allowing myself to be excited and swept up in the child like spirit of Holiday magic. Whenever the feelings seem to drift away its up to me to make change and bring it back. Movies like Scrooged, Elf, Christmas Vacation, Prancer, and Santa Clause all give me the restart for Holiday cheer when I need it. I love to bake cookies and cakes, decorations and a tree are a must and hot cider or cocoa is essential. Still to this day I make a point to leave cookies and milk out on Christmas Eve. Haha The Holidays can either be a burden or they can be an adventure.
Applying our child-like want for adventure into our normal workday is always the goal. Getting swept up in the emotions of deadlines, being better, moving forward, and making something happen in life can be draining. At some point you have to sit back and reflect on all that you have accomplished with gratitude and satisfaction. As the end of this year draws closer I find myself reflecting on all that I have done as well as thinking about the traits of mine Id like to work on. So I made a list:
1. 1. Balance- shutting off my work brain when I’m home.
1. 2. Trusting that my future will happen whether I worry about it or not
1. 3. Smiling when I wake up
1. 4. Create a structure in life wherever I am. (good food, workout, sleep)
1. 5. Simplifying material needs.
