PUSSYCAT Dolls singer Kimberly Wyatt is admired by thousands of British teenagers - now she hopes dance will keep them off the streets just like her.
The stunning US star, 27 - a judge on new show Got To Dance - admits she struggled during her adolescence.
Dancing kept her out of trouble. And in an exclusive interview Kimberly told TV Biz she believes it can help wayward kids in the UK.
She said: "As a teenager I went through a lot. You try to figure out what life means and what your purpose is.
Frustration
"Being able to go from school straight to my dance class, getting lost in the music and using dance as a way to let out my frustration meant the world to me and kept me out of trouble.
"I think there is a different outlet for aggression for every kid, it is good to see if dance might be the one that helps.
"I'm aware of the problems in the UK with teenagers and knives and I think after-school clubs and youth groups make a difference."
Kimberly, who works with Diversity's Ashley Banjo, West End actor and tap dancer Adam Garcia and Davina McCall on the Sky1 show, reckons the Britain's Got Talent winners made dance cool for boys.
She said: "Street dance has really taken off in the UK with boys especially.
"With Diversity winning Britain's Got Talent and getting the volume of votes they did, I think there are lots of little boys watching and being inspired by them.
"I sit next to Ashley as a judge and I see the influence they are having."
Got To Dance starts with the auditions this Sunday at 6pm. It will feature unknown dancers who compete for a £100,000 prize - a refreshing change to the spray-tanned celebs of Strictly Come Dancing.
Some auditions will leave viewers cringing - like when Cuban dance duo Steve and Sam Hewitt, from Cheshire, suffer an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on stage - revealing Sam's boobs.
But other contestants' stories were so inspirational they left Kimberly in tears.
She said: "There are a lot of inspirational moments in the show. It is nail-biting.
"There were these two street dancers but they were wearing crosses and their dances were for God. The guy dancing was with his most valued student.
This kid was getting into trouble and had been to juvenile detention and he took him in and taught him to dance and release his aggression through movement.
"There is an autistic boy who expressed himself through dance. He didn't know how to have a conversation but it was through dance he found he had his place.
"To see this kid get on stage and do what he did - it brought me to tears."
Kimberly now hopes the Sky1 show and BBC1 rival So You Think You Can Dance will stop dancers being looked down upon.
She said: "Dancers have always been at the bottom in the entertainment industry.
"But that is all changing. Years ago you had to dance, sing and act.
"I think we are getting back to that.
Entertaining
"Dance is extremely important in the pop world.
"I think it is still important for a singer to have a little bit of knowledge about moving and entertaining.
"Someone just standing there isn't going to be exciting for an hour and a half."
She revealed her most moving moment on the show came when host Davina McCall opened up about beating alcoholism and drug problems to become a TV star.
Kimberly said: "Davina shared her life experiences with me and it's jaw-dropping to hear the choices she made.
"She's not trying to be anyone she's not. She is amazing. The acts can relate to her."

New Kimberly Blog: Beautiful Movements
IM NOT PERFECT
I would and will never claim to be perfect. I have my great days and I have my bad days. There are times I lay in bed at night and dissect the moments I wish I could change and then beat myself over beating myself up. I laugh, I cry, I get upset, and sometimes I even feel inferior to the world around me. But thankfully I have the knowledge and the tools that help bring balance into my life.
There are times when I am unsure of my actions or what I want or even how I feel. I bottled my feeling up throughout most my life and now I practice embracing a good cry when I need it. Laughter and learning to laugh at your self and not take yourself too seriously has become a constant healing medicine. I am often very critical of myself and coming to peace with never being perfect is something I do have to work at.
After a BM member so warmly and sweetly proposed that the BM family is here for me in times of need I felt the need to express the fact that I am just like you and actually do turn to Beautiful Movements when I need the pick me up. There is always work to be done in life and on my emotions. Every time I sit down to write a blog it’s like having a conversation with the inner me on paper, a sort of pep talk. My inner dialogue dissects my thoughts and the “advice” that is prominent in my blogs is very much for me as much as I hope it inspires you in your lives. Your comments are the strength along my journey and are extremely valuable in my life.
Balance is striving for the ration of give and receive in your life to be as close to 50/50 as possible. I may set the tone and lead the topic of positive change but my friends here are what bring it to life and makes gives it meaning and purpose. The constant support I get here inspires me to give more in my life. It’s a beautiful, respected, and faithful support system that matches the flow of life with the real simplicity of being present in the moment.
Every time I feel down or excited or tired I come here to listen and read comments and other’s blogs. At times I may be busy and I don’t always have the time to answer individual emails but I promise to always give as much as I can. Your support gives me so much strength and passion for life. I may not be perfect but I strive for balance through Beautiful Movements, people, books, and constant growth.

New Kimberly Blog: Beautiful Movements
Complex Simplicity.
An idea stems from believing in something so much you are willing to do everything you can to turn a possibility into a reality. It’s understanding that often you will feel misunderstood but as long as you keep moving forward people will finally be willing to listen. I spent most of my life working to understand just that. What kept me going was that I always believed in myself even when others didn’t.
Trusting yourself as you move forward in life is a gift not many people tap into. We all have this ability but trusting the answers you feel is sometimes not as easy as trusting the directions you are given. By embracing the misunderstood you, you no longer have anything to prove and are able to move forward with confidence. Growth is the core of our human existence. When we trust our dreams, our ambitions, and our wants in life we become the leader in our own realities. We will come face to face with destiny when we continually move forward in times of doubt and uncertainty.
The BM family has spoken and I do agree that it is important to reflect on the journey it took to get where we are in life. To look back and better understand our choices and how they have shaped our accomplishments is healthy. We all deserve a pat on the back for all the hard work we put into life and how hard we have worked to get to today. Be proud of yourself. Happiness is that journey.
Be ready to hear the word NO time and time again. Trust in good and dismiss all that is not. Know that you will not always get along with every person you meet but promise yourself you will always work at finding common ground. You have nothing to loose in life therefore you have everything to gain. As long as you work at understanding yourself, make change if you don’t like what you see, and face the world with relentless ambition you win. Your potential is controlled by your mind and the only person that can hold you back is you.
My complex simplicity is loving who I am, trusting in my very best and celebrating the small victories in life. Wants and ideas require you to find comfort in your personal life. By finding this comfort and love we are able to spread it into the ideas and ambitions we have. Your ideas are worth it as long as you believe that you are worth it.
